Tears.
It's a sad day to be a Beaver Believer. I'm not even going to post the final score. It's ok guys, we'll get 'em next year! Maybe since I'm in Portland this year I'll actually root for the Ducks at their bowl game. No... probably not... how could I cheer for they who have stolen my joy?! OSU - my heart is yours alone! Even if you did suck even more than you were supposed to.

Yawn :-)
Is it generally an american thing to be really into sports? I think it's kind of cool-- although we have hockey up here, I really don't know that much about it..
What determines who you root for? AND do you grow up being into sports or is it something you get into at college? I'm just really interested because a lot of you american kids recently blogged about 'your teams'.
I think you're born into it. I was. But sometimes people pick a different team, which I think is kind of arbitrary, but maybe they do it to go against the grain. My dad and grandpa went to Ohio State and I lived near it my whole life. So I really like Ohio State.
I'd say college football is an American thing... I've known some Europians to be far more into their kinda football than most people I know 'round here are into ours... but when it comes to your college football team - yeah, that's from birth. You're more abnormal for NOT having a team than for having one. It has to do almost entirely with how you're raised, or more importantly WHERE you're raised. It's rather likely I wouldn't care a whit for sports teams except that I grew up in a college town and I can seriously remember hearing Beaver/Duck banter (that's the 2 oregon schools) from like the age of 7 on - in school, at church, among friends...
Most of the time guys care way more about it than girls too (obviously) but in my family, as you can see from my dad's post, it's the complete opposite. My mom and I are the only ones who care, my mom goes beaver crazy round this time of year to tell the truth - and then my dad and 2 brothers don't even check the scores of the games! Unbelievable!
