Did you know?

I'm sorry I've been remiss in my blogging duties mom and dad and anyone else who might care, I just don't have anything interesting enough to post publicly. Ok, how about some did you knows, just in case you missed em in the longer posts I've done in the past:

- Did you know that I'm on an intramural ultimate frisbee team? I love it. We're not great but it's really really fun.

- Did you know that I had a job taking care of a quadriplegic woman, but I quit, and my last night was last night. I think we'll still be friends though. It's neat to have gotten to know someone like that off campus.

- Did you know that the Israelites heard the 10 commandments directly from the voice of God BEFORE Moses went up on the mountain for 40 days and they made the golden calf. It's true, contrary to certain film portrayal's representations.

- Did you know that I go to an Anglican church? It's called Church of the Resurrection. I think the idea of it freaks my mom out a little. We do liturgy and all of that, most of which I like because we get to act together as the body of Christ, and parts of which I don't particularly like, probably because I don't understand them. But that's really not why I go there. I go there because the light of Jesus shines out of the pastor's face and he is also a marvelous teacher. Because when they have people standing around the sides to pray for you during communion so many people go to receive prayer that you have to wait in line. Because I see the body of Christ living and loving each other at that church. I don't go there because it's hip and trendy. Scouts honor.

Ok, these seem to be getting progressively longer so I'll bring it to a close now. So anyway, now you know.
Peace!

Ok, those were not all in your previous posts, you know. I am ashamed to say the only one I did know was about your job. I do not understand how I could have missed the ten commandments thing, though. I've definitely read that passage more than once, and I usually notice strange things like that...

Ok. Now I looked it up. I see. The chronology and details are of course a little complicated. I knew thatmuch at least. In Lev. 20:18 it looks like the people really just heard thunder and a trumpet and so on, but then in v.22 God says that "you have seen for yourselves that I have spoken to you from heaven".... Anyway, after the ten commandments God is speaking just to Moses...

Also a little interesting, the Norwegian Lutherans (and I don't know who else) divide up the ten commandments differently than we do. They make two of them into one, and divide another one into two...I don't remember exactly how it looks. Weird, though. I think possibly a mistake that Luther made...

Love you. Sorry you couldn't get a hold of us. We were gone all weekend.

Love you.

Pammy,

I love it when you post. Even when I have talked to you recently, somehow I remember things better when I read them.

I was preparing a sermon in February when I noticed that about the Israelites hearing the ten commandments before Moses went up to get the tablets. And I have read that story at least once a year for at least twenty years. It is amazing enough that they make a golden calf after Moses is gone for only 40 days, but to do it after being spoken to by God, that really shows what we are like!
