Entrance into adulthood.

In order to fufill the obligatory coming of age ritual for entrance into adulthood Kristen (my friend who turned 21 two days after I did) and I decided to get a small group of friends together hit up a crowded little hole-in-the-wall blues joint in a Chicago suburb with the express purpose of getting carded. Our purpose was fulfilled and we are now officially adults. The music was rediculously good as well, though my throat does still hurt a bit from the smoke and I have to wash all the clothes I was wearing that night. We were good little Wheaties and didn't drink but the middle aged singer, as shown in the picture below dedicated the song "hot stuff" to me so my life is pretty much complete and I can now die happy. ;-)

I've gotta say. Can ya blame him??

Did you realize?

I meant to do this yesterday. Yesterday was our 2 year anniversary. I've known you all for 2 years. 2 years ago we took that captivating bus ride through Engligh countryside with Daveo being friendly enough for all of us in the back seat. 2 years ago I met my dear Allison Moody for the first time. 2 years ago I was in raptures as we drove up to the castle and could first see it coming round the bend. The grass was so green. The sky was so blue. And I could NOT believe I was going to spend the next 6 months in that amazing place! 2 years ago we all sat uncomfortably on the floor in the library and went around telling our name, where we're from, and what we were planning to do in the future. Didn't someone tape that? Ben maybe? I'd really like to know what we all said! Two years ago Rebecca and Marissa first liad eyes on their husbands. Two years ago I walked into Carnforth for the first time with Allison and Caroline. We laughed a lot and I knew it was going to be a terrific year.
It was.

Things.

Interesting thing: I woke up just now to a very loud thunderstorm. I don't think we ever have them in the morning at home.

Lamentable thing: My brother's joining a fraternity! AAhhhh!!

Fun thing: I'm going into jazz clubs in Chicago with my friends on Saturday!

Bummer thing: One of my roommates is sick, she may have mono. Or she may have the mumps, there's a mumps epidemic on our campus right now. My other roommate and I are scared for our lives. We CANNOT get sick right now!

Good thing: It's Friday!
Great thing: I don't have nearly as much homework this weekend as I did last weekend! Well... ok so I still have a lot... but I'm going to do some stuff besides homework anyway!

Help?

If you guys get a chance, I could really use some prayer. I'm under a lot of pressure from school and I'm not sure I can handle it. I quit my job which makes me feel like a failure becuase I know other people have jobs and do school but I honestly just don't have 2 or 3 nights a week that I can spend not doing homework. I seem to hardly have 2 or 3 hours a week. I just spent my entire weekend doing nothing but school work and I thought that was the worst of it, but as I look at my schedule I realize that was just the beginning. That's my life from now on. I'm more stressed than I have been in years and I don't like it one bit. So I'm going to try this humility thing and just admit that I can't quit handle all of this and ask for some prayer. Thanks!
love,
Pamela

The good times are killing me.

In the ever poignant and applicable words of Modest Moust, The good times are killing me. Oh wait, no, those aren't GOOD times, that's SCHOOL WORK! I seriously didn't do ANYTHING besides school work ALL weekend. You can ask my friends. It's true. And it's not done yet. It will never be done. I shall drown in this mass of unending work! I'm melting! I'm melting!
Ok, so maybe I'm being a liiiitle dramatic. But seriously...

Oh yeah, and how's this for a start to my morning - leaving my room at 7:50 for my BELOVED 8:00 class I slammed my finger in the door which then caused me to pour my scalding hot tea all over myself. It kind of makes me laugh when I think about it, but kind of not because my finger is still bleeding a little and my wrist still feels burnt, 2 hours later.

A bfrief ammendment: 3 hours after that post things are looking up significantly - I got two lovely birthday cards from Mrs. Lori Moody and Miss Hannah Dorr (congradulations on making a really SWEET card Han) and a package from Mrs. Rebecca Chase including my beloved grey fleece which I left at their house last spring, 4 framed paintings, and some incredibly cute Japanese stationary (and just in time too, I just ran out of my last batch of japanese stationary!). I can take deep breaths once again. God is good.

The Best friends ever!

Look what my amazing roommate and friends did for me! They threw me this amazing and quite unexpected party last night! Much fun was had even withOUT alcohol! They are so great, I can't even believe it. Here's some pictures.

And this is AFTER a bunch of people left. When I walked in there were about 30 people all standing in rows singing me Happy Birthday. And I've only been here like 3 weeks! Can you believe it?!

Because it wouldn't be a 21st birthday party without some good old fashioned non-alcoholic champaign! (God bless Wheaton college and "the covenant").

CharisPamKaris Sandwhich. Asian Charis makes me laugh more than any one I know and my roommate Karis is truly a magnificent and wonderful girl. I am so very thankful for them both.

This is Hannah, the 3rd member of the group who pulled off this amazing party. Alas we have no picture of all 3 of us together. Seriously though, why am I so blessed with such great friends?

Check out this cute little table they made for me. Cookie cakes, a mug with EVERYONE'S name on it, and a big book-like card that everybody and their mother wrote in! And of course... non-alcoholic champaign. I repeat, can you believe it?!

I'm 21 years old!

Today is my last day as a minor,

I think I'll celebrate by NOT drinking any alcohol! (Hey, that reminds me of the way I'm planning to celebrate my first day of not being a minor!)

I gave in.

NOT to myspace, don't worry, but to facebook I did. Apparently you're not really a Wheaton student unless you're on facebook. I didn't know. So now I am, and thus now I am real. I doubt I'll be as consistent there as I am here, but you never know, I am a little bit obsessive compulsive. So if you have it too I'll be your "friend" or whatever and I'll probably even post on your "wall", but I still think calling it "being friends" is the lamest thing ever.

Good things:

I got the job!
It's beautiful outside.
My birthday's in 5 days!
I'm on an intramural frisbee team!
I made a mix cd today instead of doing any homework!

Happy 25 Wedding Anniversary Mom and Dad!!!

25 years and not only are they STILL going strong but they are in fact going STRONGER THAN EVER.
Thanks mom and dad for being such an amazing example of God's love, not just in your love for me but also in your love for one another. Thank you for giving me such a great and positive example of marraige - you really have made it through the good and the bad together, but you've always done it TOGETHER. I thank God for you guys a whole lot.

I should be doing homework right now.

But instead I'm going to post pictures!

First, long over due family reunion pictures:

In order: Jonathan, Erik, Kate, Brandon (not actually my cousin, but almost, dating my cousin at least) April, and Sam (my brother in case you REALLY don't know me very well). We have fun.

Next we have Hannah Dorr engaging in my favorite Corvallis evening passtime - squeezing through the weird statue on the water front. If you've ever been down there at night with me you know what I'm talking about...

And here is my little room. And my big building: Williston Hall. Also known as the Nunnery. But that's ok because Elizabeth Elliot and Ruth Bell-Grahm both lived here. That's right, Mr. Billy himself proposed to Ruth in my very building.

This is my roommate Karis (Kareese) and I reflected in "the bean" in Millenium park. The second one gives you an idea of what it does. It's pretty neat.

Finally: this is my favorite park in downtown Wheaton. MANY hours have already been spent reading for school in this park. And I predict many more are yet to be spent reading there... as long as the weather stays nice at least...

I'M GOING TO BE AN AUNT!!!!

It's true! Sister's having a BABY!!! I'm going to be Aunt Pamela. My parents are going to be grandparents. My sister's going to be a MOM! Viggo's going to be a dad! Julia's going to be the best mom ever. EVER. She's going to have the greatest kids in the world. I am going to spoil them rotten! As her post on my last blog states - she's already getting a little poochy! The due date is March 20. I wish I had a cute picture of her to show you, but alas... I don't have a single picture of my sister Julia on my computer. How lame is that? But you know what's not lame? I'M GOING TO BE AN AUNT!!
Everyone please share in my ecstatic joy!

P.S. in other greatly less important news - I had a job interview today and I would really like the job if it's the Lord's will... so you could pray for that if you like. It's for taking care of a quadrapalegic woman in the evenings. It would be a neat job, but she had a lot of applicants and will call me later to let me know... so it may not happen. That's all. More later. I'm going to call my pregnant sister now!
